The round shapes break up the the yellow fields of fall. This was is from a high spot in Glen Rose and the strong light caught my attention.

If you look up there is beauty all around. The soft light on the distant hill and trees that lined this road stayed with me. I knew I would paint this one. I created this using a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

I painted this as a commission for a customer of Dutch Art Gallery. It was similar to one they have hanging in the gallery. That one wasn't big enough, so I enlarged it a bit. It was based on the landscape in Glen Rose at Rough Creek Lodge. I was pleased to deliver this one this week.

I created this from a couple of small studies I created at Clark Gardens in Weatherford, Texas. I did ramp up the colors and texture. Combining the warms and cool colors together was a balancing act.

Autumn at Gunn Mountain

I created this after driving out to the Glen Rose area recently. Gunn Mountain in a small range of hills that surround the hunting resort at Rough Creek. It has big open areas that are beautiful to view. The natural grasses were glowing in the morning sun.

Away in a Manger 24x18 oil on canvas
I painted Hula Hut Glow a few years ago and recently pulled in out of the archives. (see below) I set it out where I could see it and I saw Joseph and hints of a manger. It only took a few strokes to transform this scene. I really like how it now reflects the birth of Jesus. The reason for the season.
