Patterns of Fall

Patterns of Fall 12 x 16 oil on ampersand board

I love the rich colors of the fall season.  This was created in the studio and inspired from one of my favorite painting locations.

The landscape is changing with new development all around us.  I'm happy to capture this rural landscape while I can.

Hints of Autumn

Hints of Autumn 11x14 oil on canvas

I am always in search of my next painting. I did a u-turn when I spotted this scene. The warm colors and distant view of Comanche Peak are what commanded my attention. This is filled with texture and fall colors.

Autumn in Texas

Autumn in Texas 24x36 oil on canvas

Sold

I painted this as a commission for a customer of Dutch Art Gallery. It was similar to one they have hanging in the gallery.  That one wasn't big enough, so I enlarged it a bit. It was based on the landscape in Glen Rose at Rough Creek Lodge. I was pleased to deliver this one this week.

River Sketch

River Sketch

9x12 oil on wood cradle panel

This painting was inspired by a field study and photos.  I wanted to recreate the calming effect a flowing river can have on me.  I used a palette knife adding texture and depth focusing on the contrasting colors.

Overlooking Comanche Peak

Overlooking Comanche Peak 8x10 oil on canvas

Our fall weather has been a roller coaster of temperatures. I try to take advantage of the warmer days and get out and paint. My friend Jill and I went to one or our favorite locations and captured the fall colors. Comanche Peak is the highest point around here and provides plenty of painting opportunities.
