Vibrant Centerpiece

This small house is one I pass by frequently. I found the vibrant crape myrtle tree a beautiful centerpiece for the cute white house.  It was fun to create using the palette knife and lots of colorful pain.

Nature's Rhythm

Perfect Conditions

Last Day of Summer

I met up with our group to paint on Saturday. It was amazing to see the field so lush on this last summer day.

This time I brought my great niece, Sadie with me. We arrived to discover a lovely field of wild flowers in full bloom just at sunrise. This is one of our favorite places to paint. I was happy to share the joyful process of plein-air painting with her. She loved it.

Texas Moon

I created this on location in Benbrook . It is always an inspiring place to visit and paint with friends. When I first arrived the sun was slowly rising and the moon was setting. The sky was changing quickly. By the time I set up the moon was gone, but it was an image I wanted to include. I love that plein air painting gets us outside connecting to nature.

Garden Melody

I painted with a group of artist at Chandor Gardens in Weatherford recently. The temperatures were cooler and we were so happy to take advantage of this. Painting outside in July in Texas is often a challenge. The waterfalls created and nice sound effect and was so soothing to paint by.

Airfield Falls

We’ve had cooler temperatures and some rain last week. I took advantage of this and joined other artist at Airfield Falls trail. This is on the east side of Navel Air Station JRB in Ft. Worth. This is Tarrant County’s largest natural waterfall and a beautiful setting for a morning of painting.

Bridal Cottage

This small cottage is on the grounds of Chandor Gardens in Weatherford. Filtered light peaking thru the trees highlighted these small cottages. The flower gardens led my eye to the bridal cottage that is tucked away in a quiet spot. I know this must be a beautiful location for a wedding.

Airfield Falls Park

I had the opportunity to join other artist at Airfield Falls trail recently. This is on the east side of Navel Air Station JRB in Ft. Worth. This is Tarrant County’s largest natural waterfall and a beautiful setting for a morning of painting. I painted the view of the creek upstream of the falls. I plan t to return and discover more of this area.

Crepe Myrtle Impressions

I joined 6 other artist at Chandor Gardens on Friday. We were taking advantage of the cooler temperatures. I wandered around the gardens searching for my next victim. I loved the way the light was highlighting these beauties. I wanted to create a fun and colorful version of the crepe myrtle trees.

Gold Impressions

This is the 2nd painting I worked on when visiting the Ennis area. We were fortunate find sunflowers, even if they were the smaller ones. I turned my easel around and found a new view. Plein air painting in a field of sunflowers makes my heart sing.

You may wonder how I can do two paintings in one setting. I come prepared with paints premixed and ready to go. I usually tone my canvas with a warm color. I use a palette knife to spread the paint around quickly. The design and paint goes on in a spontaneous approach. I don’t get too fussy with details and I work fast. This is what make plein air painting an exciting process.

Warm Celebration

I am participating in a group show , “Summer State of Mind” located at the Shanley House in Granbury, Texas.

The reception is this Saturday, June 29th 5-8 pm. The show hangs until July 9. It is filled with talented artist that are members of Lake Granbury Art Association.

Sailboat Breezes

I met up with friends to paint on Lake Weatherford. Doug Clark researched the area to scout painting opportunities before hand. It was a gray hazy morning with cooler temperatures and a nice breeze. It was fun to see everyones interpretation of the same subject. He always finds great places to eat too! We painted for a couple hours and went next door to Tavern on the Lake . It was a great day topped off with a great lunch. Thanks Doug Clark

Sunflower Blooms

We didn’t find the giant sunflowers in Ennis, but did find patches of the smaller sunflowers . I met my friend , Niki for our annual event of painting sunflowers. We found a place off the highway with a low amount of traffic and a shade tree. This spot was surround with the sunny flowers that we love to paint. The sky was gray and filled with clouds. The temperature was in the eighties and felt cool with a light breeze.

Check out the custom shirt I wore, featuring Niki’s painting from an art show last year. I was thrilled to get this shirt just love it.
