I painted this at the Master Garden center in Granbury back in November. Rain was in the forecast and we actually called it off. My friend, Bonnie was already there, so I joined her. We found cover and enjoyed the gray morning. It really makes the colors pop!

This was inspired from painting on location. This location is minutes from my house and a hidden gem. I wanted to recreate the calming time spent painting there. I used a palette knife, adding texture and depth focusing on the blues of the water. I love the ever changing flow of a small creek.

I was fortunate to paint giant sunflowers on location this year. I have been painting them in my dreams ever since. I was looking for patterns, shapes and movement in this landscape. Using a palette to introduce texture and color in the sky is what I imagined.

A recent trip to the Texas coast with my sisters, and nieces inspired this piece. We witness a brilliant sunrise in the morning that set off my creative energy. I knew I would try to recreate such beauty.

A calming drive thru the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens was the source of inspiration for Park Jewels
The quince was in full bloom and the trees were still bare and glowing in the morning sun.
I used the palette knife to find and define abstract shapes and color.

This small house is one I pass by frequently. I found the vibrant crape myrtle tree a beautiful centerpiece for the cute white house. It was fun to create using the palette knife and lots of colorful pain.

Last Day of Summer

I met up with our group to paint on Saturday. It was amazing to see the field so lush on this last summer day.

This time I brought my great niece, Sadie with me. We arrived to discover a lovely field of wild flowers in full bloom just at sunrise. This is one of our favorite places to paint. I was happy to share the joyful process of plein-air painting with her. She loved it.
