I get so excited when painting a cloudscape I paint the first layer very quickly. I like to build up texture and color one layer at a time. I decided to blend the hard edges of the palette knife work with small circles. This works well when painting on the hard wood service. Check out the texture on this one. It was fun.
A Light Touch Sky 12x12 oil on canvas
I continue my attempt to capture a beautiful sunrise on canvas. Each one is a learning experience and still challenges me. I love the light touch of color the breaking sun makes on the landscape. Painting in layers, this painting is filled with texture and color. Enjoy!

I created this in the studio from a fuzzing photo I took while flying down the highway. For safety reasons I should mention I was a passenger and not driving. The dramatic sky and hint of the cows on the hillside were enough to spark my creative desire.
