Texas Blues

Texas Blues 8x10 oil on canvas panel
This is the forth in my series of playing with color.  This is a combination of thalo blue and ultramarine blue. To me, blue is the color of peace, it increases calmness and creates beauty.  Spring is coming and I can't wait to search for these blooming beauties.

Glow of Morning Light 24x30

Glow of Morning Light 30x24 oil on canvas

The rising sun was an eye catcher over this Texas landscape. It is always amazing to watch the changing light and patterns. I love how the sun traces the clouds with warm light.

Fascinating Formation

Fascinating Formation 9x12 oil on wood panel

This dramatic sky was screaming paint me, paint me. I find the abstract shapes of the clouds an endless source of inspiration.  I created this on a smooth wood surface, which seemed to soak up the paint. This has many layers of color painted applied with a palette knife.

El Tesero Falls

El Tesoro Falls 11x14 oil on ray mar canvas panel-sold

I created this from a couple of field studies and a photos from El Tesoro.  El Tesoro is a camp for kids in the Granbury Area. A lovely river runs through it with colorful views.  A group of plein air painters were granted access.  We hung out, painted and enjoyed the solitude of this camp.
