Aspen Arrangement

I am excited to say this is the 3rd painting selected for Dutch Art gallery's Show, "Adventures Ahead/Travel Journal Juried Show. The show opens on Saturday, May 21st at Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas Texas.
Traveling to Colorado is one of my favorite places to visit and paint. This was inspired from a small plein-air piece I painted on trip a couple of years ago.Standing in the forest surrounded by aspen trees in the warm light was delightful.

I am excited to say that this painting has been selected for Dutch Art gallery's Show, "Adventures Ahead/Travel Journal Juried Show. The show opens on Saturday, May 21st at Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas Texas.
This show gave me a great opportunity to revisit some of my favorite destinations. Traveling to the South of France while the lavender plants were blooming is a wonderful memory. I painted on location gathering small studies.
I used these studies to recreate the light and and incredible color.

Sunrise Mosaic

I have started using small studies as a take off point on new paintings. This was inspired from my painting "Magical Meadow". I'm using a larger palette knife and creating blocks of color in a mosaic pattern. It's a fun process that I am exploring more and more.

There is nothing like painting a Colorado landscape in an Aspen grove.
This was styled after a plein air piece I painted on a trip a few years ago.
