This lovely painting was inspired from a planting of delphiniums at the Dallas Arboretum. I was there during Art Scape with Dutch Art Gallery. I had the opportunity to roam the gardens looking for future paintings. I created this using a palette knife building up color and texture.

Sea Spray

Sea Spray 22x28 oil on canvas Sold

I received an interesting request to repaint a beach scene for a friend and collector. After visiting the beach recently, I was inspired by the atmosphere and soft colors.

My color choices and texture are certainly different with the new piece.

Beach Stroll

Beach Stroll 11x14 oil on canvas

I had a new commission of a beach scene and was hesitate to start. I needed to be there and fill the ocean air before I begin.  It worked, I was fortunate to visit the beach with 4 sisters, 3 nieces and 1 great niece to celebrate my and my twins birthday. It was fantastic to watch the sun rise and spend time with my family while there. Love

Rainbow Clouds

Rainbow Clouds 8x10 oil on canvas

The living room walls were glowing from the light. I quickly grabbed my camera and ran outside and snapped some reference photos of this array of rainbow clouds .  I'm not sure if I have ever seen the clouds in this formation before.  I was excited to paint this colorful display. Created with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint.

Allure of An Early Morning

Allure of An Early Morning 10x8 oil on cradle panel

The warm winter grasses inspired this painting.  I started this with a quick thumbnail sketch and recorded color notes on the side.  I used a Winsor & Newton paper that is designed for oil paints.  It's a great way to explore color combinations and design.

I will be at Dutch Art Gallery this Saturday, March 9th from 10-2 doing a painting demonstration. Please stop by and check out my process and new paintings.

Winter Grasses

Winter Grasses 8x10 oil on canvas

To me this is the typical winter scene in North Texas. The grasses provide the fields with warm colors and changing texture. Spring is right around the corner and the green grasses are pushing through providing a nice balance.
