Garden Bunch-Sunflowers

Garden Bunch-Sunflowers

16c20 Acrylic on line panel

Sunflowers are exploding with color in my yard. I took the opportunity to paint in the garden early in the morning before the heat set in.

I will enjoy their time in the garden and try to keep them watered so they can keep producing.

I do love their bright happy colors.

This is available for purchase.

Children's Garden

Children's Garden 16x20 oil on linen

I created this at the Master's garden in Granbury recently. I was thrilled to find the poppies and other spring flowers blooming.  I set up in front of the children's garden's with a great view of the poppies! It was a breezy day and a challenge to paint on the larger canvas.

This painting is in the plein-air group show with Lake Granbury Art Association. It's on view until June 30th at the Shanley House. Available for purchase.

The Blues

The Blues

7x5 oil on wood panel

I started the year creating small paintings. This is an older one that I discovered in my studio, but never posted. I just love this color combination and the variety of blues. Spring is just around the corner and I can't wait for new buds to explode with color.

This is available.

My garden is a great source of inspiration. I love planting geraniums in this clay pot for the warm colors and great shadow effects.

Spring Garden

Spring Garden

5x7 oil on canvas

On the coldest day of the NewYear I created this, dreaming of my Spring Garden. The hope and planning of a garden always starts in the dead of winter. Everything is sleeping and waiting for the renewal of growth. May you find comfort in this season and new year.

Poppies in the Sunrise

Poppies in the Sunrise

10x20 oil on canvas

This painting was inspired from a garden on a very busy road. When I saw the bright red poppies, I turned around. This garden also had roses, peonies and small yellow flowers. Add all that and the rising sun was a painting in the makings. Using the palette knife and carving this scene out was a fun exercise.

Thank you to a new collector and Dutch Art Gallery for sending this one off to a new home. This was a gift for a long lost loved one. They connected and she brought gifts of geraniums. This painting will remind them of that first meeting.

I love it when a painting connects to someone in a meaningful way. They sent this photo to share.

Hats off to Pam and Nick at Dutch Art Gallery for providing a beautiful frame and service.

Sun Block

Sun Block

11x14 oil on canvas

This painting is based on one I created on location in Fredericksburg. I wanted to push it in a different direction. Using the palette knife I blocked in colors building up the layers. I built this one square at a time.

Blue Front

Blue Front  20x16 oil on canvas

This is a house I walk by in my neighborhood. I loved the light and colorful trim and have thought about painting it for a while. I took artistic liberty and planted this garden out front. It is filled with texture and eye popping colors.

Nature Center Garden

Nature Center Garden by Sheri Jones

12x9 oil on linen panel

I had a wonderful opportunity to paint at the Acton Nature Center this week. I was drawn to the wooden arbor and the path leading to it.  The asters, greg's mist, red salvia and many other flowers were in full bloom. They were covered in butterflies. It was a delightful morning spending time in the treasured garden.
