Borrowed from a Friend 7x5

Borrowed from a Friend  7x5 oil on wood panel

I was visiting my friend and neighbor, Amy and discover she had sunflowers growing in her side garden. I quickly borrowed some and came home and went to work.  They were just what I needed for a little inspiration.http:\\www.sherijonesart.com

Summer Clouds, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Summer Clouds  11x14 oil on wood panel

I had a lot of fun at my Pop up show at the Pottery Barn recently.  This is the another painting I did while spending time there.  It was inspired from mornings on Lake Granbury.   We love to take the boat out in the early hours of the morning. It is quite and peaceful and a soothing way to way up.  I always feel recharged too!

Cactus with a View 12x16 SOLD

Cactus with A View 12x16 oil on canvas

The view is from the High Hope Ranch landscape in Glen Rose.  I loved the shapes of the cactus and wonderful distant views. I enhanced the colors and had fun pushing the thick juicy paint around.

This painting sold, thanks to Your Private Collection on Historic Square in Granbury, Texas.

Harvested Round Hay Bales16x20 oil on canvas

It is always a delight to see newly harvested hay bales.  It's a sign of a farmers hard work and love of the land.   This is farm in Johnson County, Texas. I created this in layers adding texture using a palette knife.

Sunny Ones 11x14

Sunny Ones 11x14 oil on wood panel

I love to change up the surface I paint on and using a wood  panel coated with a few layers of gesso is just what I need for a little challenge.  My neighbor let me pick some of her sunflowers to create this little still life. I was inspired.

Sweeping Light -5x7

Sweeping Light 5x7 oil on wood panel

I wanted to create some small paintings for my art show at Potter Barn. This was created on a wood panel using a palette knife.  The paint stands out and you can really see the texture with the sweeping morning light.

Dynamic Morning Display 20x20

Dynamic Morning Display

20x20 oil on canvas

Exploring this rich color combination was exciting.  This intense color in the sky only happens for a brief moment and quickly changes. I used the palette knife to blend the paint together and then to add layers of colorful paint. The texture adds dimension and movement to guide the eye around.

Iris Garden in Bloom 20x24

Iris Garden in Bloom 20x24 oil on canvas

I get excited with I see iris flowers in bloom.  Their delicate colors and petals remind me of my Mother- in-law. She had a large garden of iris of every color.  They lined her front yard and were beautiful.  My inspiration for this was from painting at the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens in the spring time.

Dancing Cypress Trees 11x14

Dancing Cypress Trees11x14 oil on canvas

This was created as a color study for a larger piece.  I like to start small and work out color and design before tackling a big canvas.  The location for the inspiration is a farm house in Italy. It was on a drive with Scott Williams and Niki Gulley with Art Treks.  Our first trip with this talented couple.
